She's Real: The First Sample Has Arrived

She's Real: The First Sample Has Arrived

Founder's Notes - May 2026

I opened my phone to a set of photos from the factory and just stopped.

There she was. Not a sketch. Not a render I'd spent hours tweaking in Vizcom at midnight. A real, physical bag sitting in a factory in China, waiting to ship.

I've been building PASSIA for 6 months. I've drawn this bag, described this bag, argued for every detail of this bag. I commissioned renders that made it feel almost real. Almost. But there is something that happens when a manufacturer sends you photos of the actual object - something no render prepares you for.

She exists.

What the first sample looks like

The shape is exactly right. That was the thing I was most nervous about - whether the structured silhouette would hold, whether it would look boxy and intentional or just stiff and awkward. It holds. The structured nylon sits cleanly, the proportions are exactly what we drew.

The leather base panel is better than I imagined. The way the nylon meets the leather - that seam - looks clean and deliberate. The PASSIA logo sits blind-embossed into the leather, subtle enough that you have to look for it, present enough that when you find it, it feels right.

The gold hardware catches light in a way that photographs can't fully capture. The clamshell opening - one of the features I fought hardest for, because it's the thing that makes this bag genuinely useful at airport security - sits exactly as designed. Full 180 degrees. Everything accessible. Nothing buried.

I haven't held her yet. These are factory photos. But I've looked at them probably two hundred times.

It still needs work, like the top handle for example - i want to sit straight - but it is a fantastic start.

What happens next

A first sample is never the finished product. That's not how this works.

Between first sample and final bag, there's detail work. Interior pockets are being refined — we're adding more of them, in the right places, sized for the things you actually carry.

Reinforcement is being added where your hands will naturally grip. Small adjustments that don't photograph but that you'll feel every time you use the bag.

The interior lining colour is still being decided - and I want your input on that. If you're on the waitlist, check your inbox. I sent a vote this week.

Every refinement we make now is a decision we don't have to regret later. PASSIA is launching once, at presale, in March 2027. There is no version two to fix version one. So we're getting version one right.

Why I'm telling you this

Because you're on this waitlist for a reason (and if you’re not, come join us!). You signed up because something about this bag - the idea of it, the problem it solves — felt true to you.

I think you deserve to see the process, not just the finished product.

She's real. She's not perfect yet. But she's real.

And that's everything.
